Thought to be an ancestor of the LARGEST predatory shark to have ever lived the extinct CARCHARODON MEGALODON and its living relative todays GREAT WHITE shark.
Early Eocene.
c 52 Million Years.
The age of these teeth is approx., it is usually based upon the formation that the teeth were discovered in.
These teeth were discovered in the High Atlas mountains of Morocco, North Africa at a height of 11,000 feet.
One of the earliest giant sharks it may be the ancestor of most, if not all, living Mackeral Sharks.
MEGALODON, the LARGEST predatory shark ever to have lived is a descendant of this giant shark. Its living relatives are the two current rulers of the open water, the White Pointer (Great White Shark) and the Blue Pointer (Mako Shark)
Massive examples measure between 1 3/8" and 1 3/4".
These are LARGE teeth, not to be confused with the small 1" teeth, EVEN THE SMALLEST TOOTH MEASURES APPROX 1 3/8" smaller teeth are much more common - I haven`t included a picture of a smaller tooth for comparison as I usually do to demonstrate the difference the extra 1/2" to 3/4"+ makes but as the length increases so does the width and depth.
These teeth are, as with 95% of their type, have repaired or restored roots. Many websites make no mention of this as it is the norm for these fragile teeth which come from working phosphate mines in Morocco.
Each piece comes with a grip top bag and label for resale.
