1880's Sterling Silver Simons Gold Fluted Band Thimble

This is a 1880's Sterling Silver Simons Brothers Co. Fluted Gold Band Thimble. In the apex (inside top) is the trademark for Simons Co. it is a shield in the shape of an upside down bell with a script S in the middle. The gold band is a 'fluted octagon'. The design with alternating plain and chased panels. Some collectors called these band 'applied gold bands' but Simons made these by fusinbg together gold and silver for the thimble blank. After the thimble was formed, the thimble maker would cut away the gold above the band before applying the knurling. On one of the large panels is the size 9. On another panel it is engraved with EFG or EJG. I have a picture of the engraving below for you to see. There are no holes and it is in round. The thimble is 14/16" tall, and the diameter of the opening is 10/16". The only thing I ask of the international bidders is that they please speak English and can communicate with me. I only speak English. As far as shipping I will only charge you what the auctual shipping is plus .50 cents for packaging. I do advise that you buy the insurance (except for the international bidders) in case the item is broken or lost in shipping. I will not be responsible. eBay will only allow us to accept Paypal for payment. No money orders or checks. I try to post new thimble auctions every Sunday, and mail your package on Thursdays.
