Beautiful primitive rug, perhaps it was a piece of larger rug. I am not sure of background of piece as I got it from a Lancaster Co., PA estate sale. It is very lovely and very unusual.
Rug is reversible!
On one side the star design in center is in soft purples, beiges, browns, sand color, gold, moss greens and soft blues.
On other side are bolder colors: dark blue, taupe, forest green, bright green, light blue, orange, burgandy.
Hooked on jute/burlap using old fabrics strips of clothes (look like cotton, most are solid color, a couple patterns). From the fabrics used, I am estimating the age to be early 1900's.
The rug itself is in good condition, no tears and colors are super. However, some edges frayed. A couple loose strings of fabric on one side, but could easily be re-bound.
Shipping price includes insurance.
This rug is a perfect size for an artful wall hanging. Needs to be seen and appreciated. Would make a one-of-a-kind decoration and a fine example of recycling at its best. It would really look fantastic hanging over a stone fireplace or in a country kitchen/dining room.
