These six metal tubes of lipstick belonged to my Mother. I think she bought them in the 1950s or maybe even the late 1940s, when metal was again being used for civilian products. The cases are very retro, representative of mid-century design, and would display nicely. Description and Condition Six lipstick tubes, probably made of brass, each containing some of the original lipstick. The two lipstick tubes with four red stripes have the brand name FLAME-GLO embossed four times per stripe. In one spot is embossed “REJUVIA LABS, INC. DISTRIBUTOR N.Y.C. MADE IN USA.” Imprinted on the base are two patent numbers. The lipstick shades, “DYNAMIC RED” and “PINK FIRE,” are stamped in black ink on the bases. The original lipsticks fill the bases and are made to push up with a lever, but I couldn’t get them to move. The red stripes show a few nicks, in keeping with their age. A few small spots of what look like make-up are stuck on the cases but are barely noticeable. Another lipstick tube has three red stripes at the base and the words Flame Glo embossed on top of the tube. On the bottom of the base are embossed the words "MADE IN U.S.A. REJUVIA LABS, DISTR. N.Y." Stamped in black ink is the shade “SUN GOLD.” The remaining lipstick fills half the base and is made to push up with a lever but does not move. The red stripes are intact except for a few spots that look like makeup adhering to them, not very noticeable. The gold-toned finish is very pitted. The other three tubes are “bullet-shaped.” One tube has no identifying information. Its base has two indentations circling it as a design. Most of the lipstick is present and was made to twist up, but I could not get it to move. Light scuffs on the finish. Another bullet-shaped tube has a black metal base. A worn paper label is glued to the underside with the shade “REAL ORANGE” printed in the middle. I can only make out the words “NEW YORK DISTRIBUTOR.” Most of the lipstick is in the tube but I could not twist it up. The final bullet-shaped tube also has two indentations circling it as a design. On the case are three ridges which run the length of the tube and meet on top to make a Y-shaped design. The finish is marred. On the base of the tube is a dark pink paper label which reads “CHARBERT ORANGE $1.25.” The lipstick fills the base and does twist up. For the three gold-toned, “bullet-shaped” tubes, perhaps some metal polish would make them sparkle, but I will leave any cleaning to the buyer. No returns.
