An original World War One letter which includes the envelope. The envelope has the send to address of Camp Jackson Columbia South Carolina. It is dated, Estherville, IA, July 22, 18. The letter reads:
Dear brother
Yours rec'd the other day Glad I didn't get that strong letter.....There was 142 drafted men left from Emmet Co this A.M. I suppose you saw the list in the paper so I won't mention the names. Lloyd Stockdale didn't go however and Graves bank got painted yellow. Graves went with Lloyd down to Des Moines and things look kind of suspicious. Everyone is going against Graves.....I haven't as yet rec'd that insignia that you said you were sending....Mayme
The letter is in very good condition.
