An original World War One letter which includes the envelope. The envelope has the send to address of Toledo, Iowa. It is dated, Columbia, S.C. July 21 1918. The letter reads:
Dearest Alice
This is Sunday P.M. and am down town at the Y.M.C.A. Bushing and I were to Sunday school Church but he has to go back to Camp as he is on guard......There was a soldier from Tenn that joined the church this morning and is going to be baptized tonight I think I will come down for it.....we were all invited to a military wedding at the christian church next Tue P.M.....I saw in the N.Y. paper this morning that Fred Rankins from Esterville was seriously wounded in France. I was well aquainted with him........Chrissie
